Autumn + Kevan = Happily Ever After [Sacramento Wedding Photographer]

Autumn and Kevan are a gorgeous couple that had a gorgeous wedding.  90 of their closest friends and family came to the Hawkesdene House in Andrews, NC to celebrate this day with them.  I spent the weekend with them, knowing no one other than the bride and groom and came home with 88 new friends.  Warm and welcoming and full of love for Autumn and Kevan.  A beautiful, heartfelt ceremony was performed by Autumn’s childhood pastor.  Kevan is a Coast Guard pilot that flies with my husband and I had forgotten how much I love a military wedding.  It reminds me that I did not just marry my husband, but the Coast Guard as well.

I am sharing a few of my favorite images from the day, but please watch the slideshow at the bottom of this post to see the rest.

Autumn and Kevan, thank you for the honor of documenting your day and allowing me to be a part of it.  Much love to you both.

** a special thank you to Erin O’Neil who drove from Greenville, SC to second shoot with me.  I could not have done it without her. **

Mama’s Boy

I had all of my studio stuff set up so I figured I would put it to good use.  There were so many cute ones that I couldn’t narrow it down so I posted them all.  If you look through the gallery you see what a mini-shoot with all three of them really looks like.

Photographer friends – I edited these with the new TRA Lightroom Presets.  They are amazing!  This was made with Boogie Nights Lite and Golden Ages Lite.

A fleeting moment of sweetness

My friend Sonja issued a challenge to do a 365 project.   I have done one before and in all honesty it is what made me really push myself as a photographer and I really loved the process.  Did I take a picture every single day?  No.  But I did more often than I probably would have had I not been part of a challenge.  It can be about anything you want or about nothing at all.  This year, I am pushing myself to play with flash.  I am going to admit something freely here.  I am afraid of my flash.  I love my studio lights, but I have never truly embraced the on camera flash.  I do not mean the one that pops up on top of your camera (I really cannot think of a time that I would use that, unless it meant not getting a moment at all) but the one that fits in the hot shoe bracket.  Like this.  Have a mentioned that I have not seen the sun in many, many days?  A perfect opportunity to practice using my flash!  While I have a lot to learn, my two oldest gave me a moment that I love.  No fighting, no yelling, just brother and sister love.

If you have any good tips for using a flash, let me know.  I have a hard time nailing my focus using my flash.  I could use all of the help that I can get.
