We took the kids on a little overnight holiday adventure to San Fransisco to see the city at Christmastime. It did not disappoint. It is a more subtle Christmas than New York City, perhaps because it is not as cold as NYC this time of year? Which is surprising because San Fransisco is hands-down one the coldest places that I have ever been in my life and I have lived in Canada… anyway, it a beautiful city, one that is in the #2 position of my favorite big cities (Philadelphia takes the #1 spot), and one that I could spend copious amounts of time in. We took the kids to Point Reyes earlier in the day because I am so missing the ocean. As much as I truly love living here in Sacramento, I am desperate to be closer to the ocean. My entire 33 years has been spent minutes away from the beach and it is a part of who I am. Which is completely strange because I never really loved going to the beach as a kid and I not much a sunbather. But I miss the comforting smell and the sounds of the beach. It was worth the long drive and the carsickness that I experienced to get up and back. In the same day, I also ate a piece of pizza that was so delicious and so close to East Coast pizza that I got teary at the table. If there were not people around, it very well could have turned into weeping. Next to the beach, the other thing that I miss the most about my hometown is pizza.
I hope that everyone has a wonderful and safe and lovely and perfect Christmas.
xoxo,
Bree
